The engineering blasting is a basic professionalcourse in mining engineering discipline and plays a very important role in thedevelopment of national economy. The new blasting technology research instituteaims to better gather advantages of the blasting technical talents in KUST, servicesin the curriculum teaching of blasting engineering, cultivating of talents andpromoting of new technology, and translates science and technology intoproductivity as quickly as possible. The research institute implements thedirector responsibility system under the leadership of the director. Theresearch directions are rock blasting, city demolition blasting and so on. Insome areas have a strong advantage like engineering blasting design, technologyconsulting and services, blasting new products, new blasting process andpersonnel training, etc..
The research institute, as the only company that hasbeen engaged in blasting research and personnel training in Yunnan province, hasa strong strength in the field of engineering blasting all over the provinceand outside, and also has a great reputation. Many industries in the constructionof national economy, such as mine, Hydraulic and Hydroelectricity, railway,highway, city construction is inseparable from the blasting. The blastingtechnology level ultimately affects the development of these industries. TheInstitute that commits to blasting research and personnel training createsgreat economic and social benefits for the society. The postgraduates aftergraduation work in blasting company, mining industry enterprises, researchinstitutes, government departments, etc., most of them have become technicalbackbone or leadership. As a result, the development of the institute plays agreat role to improve blasting technology.
The new blasting technology research institute hasmade remarkable achievements in the integration of production, study, researchafter the continuous efforts of a few generations. In recent years, there is 1item about National Natural Science Foundation, 8 items about ProvincialNatural Science Foundation, 47 items about horizontal subjects. The total fundsreached 5 million yuan. The research institute has a coherent researchdirection and a stable research team, and mainly engaged in actively doing researchin the field of engineering blasting for several years. The academic team includes1 professor, 4 associate professors, 2 Ph.D.. More than 90 articles are publishedin recent years. The invention patents authorized are 3 items. The utilitymodel patents are 2 items. The institute has ever organized a large-scaleinternational blasting conference and published 4 textbooks. The project called“building (structure) demolition blasting technologyresearch and application” was awarded third advance prize on technology andscience in Yunnanprovince.
